One more picture (from below)...

For some reason, this picture did not attach to the entry below. Wanted to share how cute this diaper cake was!!! This was Chasta's first attempt at making one and she did a fan-tabulous job!! It is currently taking residence on my kitchen counter because it is just too neat to take apart yet.

Party like it's 2012!!

Ok, so I guess I need to preface this by saying that our "wait time" expired on February 22nd (at midnight)... yippee!!... however, our attorney did not mail the final paperwork until that same day, so the judge did not receive it in time to sign it right away (that's assuming he might have taken the time to do it anyway... unlikely). SO... we are still waiting to see the documents and be assured that the judge has signed and sealed the case. Nevertheless, he IS ours now.

Back to topic, yesterday my (Jenny's) friends at work threw us a huge adoption shower! It exceeded our wildest imagination!! Farm themed, so cute!! I realized that this is a new-parent ritual that sometimes gets taken for granted, just expected, and we thought we'd missed out on it since we can't have kids biologically, which is why we appreciated this gesture all the more! Donna Bailey, Valerie Glaze, and Chasta O'Malley did an AMAZING job planning, coordinating and hosting the party. We had 40+ attendees and received a multitude of awesome gifts! Everyone was amazingly generous to us. It blew us away and touched us greatly. Chasta's daughter, Micah (12 yrs old), created a slide show of Eli from beginning to current that was shown at the party. She did an professional-quality job on it!

It is touching to see how many people, friends and co-workers are excited and happy about Eli's adoption. He is such a special and important little boy to so many people. My hope is that one day he'll understand that...

6...5...4...3...2...1!!!!!

THAT'S ALL THE TIME WE HAVE LEFT! 6 MORE DAYS!! We are sooooo excited... but still so apprehensive. Sam said it perfectly last night when we were discussing it - he said "I feel like I am still holding my breath until it is over." I am too...

We signed the Foster Care Cancellation Paperwork on February 3rd so we are OFFICIALLY no longer foster parents!!! That was a chapter in our lives that I don't regret, but never want to go back to again either. The system is so broken... it's so sad... breaks my heart for those kids. We also saw our MBCH caseworker for the last time on February 10th. She came to say good-bye to Eli since they won't need or have grounds to visit anymore. It was nice to see that they truely cared for him and were happy to see the adoption happen.
